The Chosen

Chosen?.. maybe... Cursed... probably, for i could not lay my pen down.

When i am not requiting lovesickness or loss, fantasy in dream like fairytales or ranting politics I am somebody else it seems.

Wonderful poetry from you today.

Something there is in your flow that held me captive; dark, yet with an atmosphere of bright mischiefโ€”like a flame burning, dancing, in a dim-lit room. Excellent write!!

Lovers in Lockdown

One of the most frustrating traits of humans to me is what I call the Survivors\' Bias. Maybe if we looked back on those who don\'t make it too hard we would lose our sanity, but so often we say \"That wasn\'t so bad\" or \"That was worth it\" without asking those who paid the ultimate price and are no longer among us to weigh in. When certain leaders say \"We are going to get through this\" they lie! For many will not, even if they do. Maybe oblivion is all we can expect when we fall by the wayside, but I for one reject that notion, and refuse to fall into that habitual way of thinking. Thanks for acknowledging those who do not and have not and will not survive.

ANGELA HERE Good Evening BB thanks for sharing a very moving & poignant Poem about surviving COVID 19. Young Friends of ours went SKIING to Italy just after the outbreak of COVID 19 and came home infected. They were married without Childen and were very ill and self isolated @ home for two weeks. They were first aid trained so could self treat. They both ate very little ! Fortunately they survived but their love for each other increased tenfold - AMEN. They survived because they were Young & very fit - others we know have not survived.
It is still a major Global Pandemic and we must all Stay Alert - in our Bubbles and at least Three Feet Social Distancing ! Please check our site - THANKS

Peace & Joy & Love

Well penned Kevin. Yes these times are quite a mess. Who would have thought 40 or 50 years ago that we\'d be dealing with what\'s going on in these last 4 months. But...at least we have poetry to help us cope with the world anew. Stay safe. AP.

Thanks, AP. Glad you can relate. I read your \'about you\' info. It seems we\'re the same age. Also, you mention your first love. I started penning poems about my first love, Lorraine, after we reunited after a lifetime apart. So I suppose you can say that she\'s my muse. Again, thanks for taking the time. I\'ll check out some of your own poems.๐Ÿ˜‰

Wonderful words Kevin.

As an aside the saying \'Show a leg\' was a sign in the navy of the 18th and 19th century for the sailors to get up and showing a leg told the bosun if it was a woman in the bed.

Good Afternoon Kevin - Brian Here - Thanks for a very Charming Poem on one of our fave Towns in England ! You have telt it exactly like it is - Unpretentious but Understated. WE both (Angela is my Wife of two Months !) love G & S. I used to visit (every Year with Friends) for the G & S Festival ! WE stayed in a B B on t*other side of Park and walked over each Afternoon & Evening for the Shows ~ Participating in the Chorus in the late show. Alas it has moved to Harrowgate (Yorks) but we have never visited the New Venue. We love the whole of the Peak District - especially the Blue John Mines & Chatsworth & Bakewell especially the Bakewell Show & the (edible) Tarts ! Thanks for a trip down Memory Lane !
