Beautiful poem AND beautiful picture, Goldfinch! It is amazing how we connect love to different things like this moon, roses, rainbows and more.

Funny we both wrote about the moon tonight :) I was moved so much by its presence the past few days I couldn\'t resist. It\'s incredible what moonlight can make us feel.

I saw it first thing - it lit up the whole of our cul-de-sac shining on wet roads, pavements and water - it was indeed quite some sight. Great write about this unusual event.

He was indeed a gifted channel of the music of the heavens, one of several of that time period. Enjoyed sharing you appreciation of it, Goldie.

Ahh Mozart! Music nonpareil. Classical music, especially Beethoven, quite literally saved my sanity in my teen years. Your poem reminds me how fortunate I was then and now since I recently married a lady with a passion for the classics. Your tableau of music, food and a good woman is a beautiful one. Than you for the cued remembrance and image.

Mozart is not my favourite composer when it comes to orchestral work but he\'s at the top of my tree in piano works - my favourite instrument by far with only the cello coming near. This is such a beautiful piece as is your poem of the day - enjoyed it.

Life is experiencing. We must be appreciative of the gift of experiencing both ends of the spectrum ... the rainbows and the storms.

Your reflective poem reminds me of one of
Joseph Campbell’s quotes...
“We must be willing to let go of the life we planned,
so as to have the
life that is waiting for us.”

Great write!
I enjoyed listening to the clip!

Good write and clip Gold. We can know it\'s not just wishful thinking or escapism. Are you a wise bird? And if so, a blackbird, or that lune bird in your poem?!
A thunderstorm can be exciting - if we\'re not outdoors in the middle of it!

What an interesting subject and well written. I like this. I\'ve done a bit of gigging and my argument against it is that you reach the point of monotony hammering out the same songs and that starts to kill the very songs that once inspired you. I guess jazz might be different though with more improvisation.

FredPeyer said:

The sparkle may have been missing in the jazz performance, but it definitely is not missing in your writing!
And you brought up an interesting subject. The way we experience something, be it music, art, or anything else. I think that experience is made up of two parts, one the performer, and two yourself. As you mentioned in the poem, these were renowned musicians, playing superbly, so your expectations were very high to start with. Maybe too high. With lower expectations you might have perceived it differently. Or, it could have been that they were off their usual playing for whatever reason, and did not meet your high expectation. In order to be totally satisfied, performance has to meet expectation.
