I get a feeling in this poem for someone, who despite their best efforts and compassion for another, finds that perhaps the only recourse is to allow them to fail, rather than enabling. I love the way you have presented this. Don\'t know if I\'m interpreting it correctly, but it\'s a great write!

Lust or caring, empathy and a deep abiding love that I\'ve tried to define before not are, but can be two different things, and no judgements anytime here.

Some interactions we have do have this result and effect. I for one feel sad because of the waste but glad in the same breathe for that momentary connection.

Literal is possible here but I’m feeling metaphor , commentary that speaks to the fact that you’ve already been helping , already with non admittance they chose s deft dance but yet still lean toward your words as if dependent and non responsive could coexist. Did they not know you would recognize folly? Now my question for you is”where might you put that rug?”y

Apathy Rules Okay
Doggerel Dave said:

If life was once ‘nasty, brutish and short’ - today we can thank modern medicine for prolonging the agony.
But even if I make allowance for a slightly embittered view of the world which comes with old age, I do believe that for some of us, in the western world life forty plus years ago was better, more just and free than right now.
Great write, Neville.
