Flames of cold

No joyful relationship is without pain and, though cliché, no pain, no gain. This poem speaks truth, my friend. Well done! 🌹👏

Soman Ragavan said:

The stages some people go through as they age. Worries, deceptions pile up. Those around us start disappearing. The few that remain might turn sour, disillusioned and spoil our mood in turn. Hope exists in youth, as we know our life is yet to be lived.

Flames of cold

Here is such an ache with emotional paradox; the flames of cold are a contradiction in themselves, that may hint at a relationship once burning with passion that’s now frozen into something painful and inescapable. The cold isn’t just physical; it’ could be an emotional detachment, the withdrawal of warmth once shared. “Passion’s sweat turned solid glue” could suggest that intense intimacy has become a binding force, no longer freeing but constricting. The icy touch that “burns like fire” captures how emotional numbness can hurt just as deeply as raw feeling. Superb stuff. 🙏🏻🕊️

A moving glimpse into rural hardship and quiet resilience—loved the raw, authentic voice and tender hope within.
Felt like sitting beside the speaker, sharing warmth in a dry, dusty world.

A really fun read my friend. Having grown up in rural, farmland in the Skylands region of NJ (if one outside of NJ can believe that exists...it does). Love mountains, love nature, love farms (not factory farms...but farms). So, this hit home for me, my friend! 🌹👏

\'Rich\' is a key word I\'d use here: rich in dialogue born of rich experience gained from a rich and varied life. Sounded richly authentic to me, Soren.

Tristan Robert Lange said:

Many of us come into this world being told that we were \"planned\", we can be anything we choose to be, that if you work hard you will be met with success, and that life will be overall beautiful. Yet, and this is a VERY BIG YET, most of those things cannot be known let alone guaranteed. Life is uncertain from conception on. No amount of it is guaranteed. We say we plan our children, yet our children do not turn out according to plan. So...as I see it...this poem is speaking to the uncertainty of life and yet we keep producing more life with complete certainty. Ironic at the least. Anyway, that is how this hit me first couple go-rounds, hope I am somewhere in the vicinity, but regardless, a powerful poem, my friend! 🌹👏
