There is a lot to think about in this but the underlying theme seems to be believe in yourself and be yourself ignoring what others say but sensitive to who they are. Lovely Teddy a lot of good lines and wisdom in this write

A very caring write dear Teddy. Poor goldfish, well looked after yet so alone in a bowl. We have an aquarium with lots of fish. No lonely ones there. This is of course a strong metaphor here. I would say people need people and fish need fish:) Have very happy Saturday dear Teddy. πΉπ

And if people were goldfish? I know this is a literal story but I can\'t help but see a metaphor here as well. We all wonder these thoughts about those we care for. Will they miss us, will someone else care for them? How can you care for anything and not wonder what will happen to it when you are gone? Very nicely written my friend.

At first the title reminded me of a Jamie Lee Curtis/Kevin Kline/John Cleese film. But this poem actually plucks at the heartstrings, having had a litany of fish pets over the years. ππ»πππ»π

Well worth the celebrating Teddy. Went to a Burns night once. They piped the haggis in and we toasted it with whiskey. Fabulous evening and I know you would have loved the bagpipes. πΉπ

Ah the purpose of life my poetic friend. Lovely verse in this poem floats me down stream as a leaf carried on currents of meter and rhym to end up in the pond of meaning which is deeper than it appears. Many reflections on this pond. Beautiful!

My poems are held hard copy in several albums - I often wonder what my successors will make of them. Probably think I\'m a tad eccentric - wonder if they\'ll boast about their weird ancestor - great write by the way.

Easy Fave Teddy, liked as well... also observed that all these reach us via some sense, be it hearing or seeing, etc... and the thought of being without our senses was a brutal reality check. My latest post is about walking and I realised that not everyone does walk by choice of by circumstance. Ah well... I\'ve begun to ramble on... ππ»ποΈ

The Burns in Me
Thoughtless said:
I often quoted Robert Burns to my wife when first we met. She was descended from English royalty on \"the wrong side of the bed.\" Our favorite play was the Barretts of Wimpole Street. My wife was five years my senior similar to the Barretts in the play who were six years apart. I don\'t know too much about my heritage, but supposedly some of it traced back to families in Czechoslovakia, Germany, Austria, and Scotland. The families are relatives supposedly to the Hapsburgs, and Horacek families on my mother\'s side. On my father\'s side, the Johnstons and Whittenbergs, and perhaps naturalized Cherokee? in America.
I very much enjoyed your poem. I apologize for rambling.

Pride in one\'s heritage is a wonderful thing. One can not know who they are until they know where they came from. It is most interesting that traced back far enough we all are related. This poem eeks with pride of the old land and I have always admired the Scottish and loved the sound of bagpipes. Don\'t think I could do Haggis though. A most lovely poem my friend

Old Man Winter (senryu)
Cassie58 said:
Reminds me how fragility can set in with advancing age. Old man winter is a fine metaphor. I visited a residential home yesterday and there were several elderly men with dementia that this fine senryu would apply to. They are certainly in the winter of their lives, getting lonelier, weaker and colder by the day. So very well composed dear Teddy πΉπ

Dear Teddy in some latin based languages leaves may be pabes as well and so it seems at times that our muse grows more distant as we write more but infact our work grows stronger with more practice. Maybe not the intended interpretation but then my mind wanders. A very lovely haiku or senryu depending on who the I is.
