Beautifully penned dear Teddy. Grief has, and always will touch us. It leaves a painful and profound hole in the heart that you\'ve captured so eoquently in this poem. On a warm summer\'s night, seeing the fireflys thick in the woods, I like to imagine they are the atoms of a loved one who has passed, flittering and flickering, existing unchanged until they join other fireflys to create something wonderful and new. Just loved it!

Many great lines speak from a wounded heart in this poem
a poetic heart that once bloomed
\"now in ruins spread on a gutter
black dead petals, soaking up the rain
as the sun has been taken hostage\"
Fraught with memories of past pain this paints a picture of damage and regret that has not healed touching the heart of the reader. Very touching in its sadness.

This did seem to be for one gone from this world although it could be for one just lost tp past love. The raven I took for an harbinger of death and the stars, clouds and rainbows as indications of one passed on. I always loved looking at the stars, although they have grown dimmer of late. But then many things have grown dimmer. Great imagery used here along with imagination. Such a nice flow smoothing it along as if on a drifting breeze.

I have been in that situation Teddy when my wife died but I know that she is a star looking down on me and is very pleased about my new love.

Grief, is like being swamped by waves from the sea, you think you are going to drown and you never know when it is going to hit you. Dear Teddy, I am no stranger to it , having lost many family members and friends. I felt yours here. 🌹

Gone. And it takes a long time to reconcile, accept. Right at the start the pain can be overwhelming. That piece could help someone in that position along, Your effort is worthwhile, Teddy.

It happens sometimes Teddy where we forget which day it is, luckily being retired every day in my life is Saturday!

I am sure those Angels are always there for you to write about.

I’m with sorenbarrett above, with the following exclusions or exceptions:
- I\'ve never owned a beloved alarm clock,
- I ask where… are you going boy? it\'s Saturday, Sunday, any old day of the week,
- At 6:56 am It’s time to go back to bed…..
Rich write, Teddy.

Dear Teddy I am thankful to know that this is all in the past. The darkness does not become you. However, as the saying goes it is all part of life’s rich tapestry, a learning curve and it makes excellent poetry. Have a great weekend. 🌺

Life has no joy without balance. No appreciation of the good without experiencing the bad. The muse within you is fired by the fuel of adversity and so all good art comes from extremes with the greatest octane being pain to which joy may be compared. A most poignant write friend.

Although very well penned as always Teddy, I still can\'t see the whole picture, I think because I can\'t bare to see such pain in the heart and soul of one of my dearest friends. May this darkness leave you never to return. 🫂

Your poem is a picture itself. In fact it has the advantage of portraying what film by itself can not, the the emotion of words. I can see the beauty of the iris praying before the wind and feel the cold force and wetness of the rain in the cloud like misty blanket. Lovely.

The Death Of A Poet
Cassie58 said:

Dear Teddy, all I can say is that I am happy that I was born when I was. I see sliding values and lack of interest in many of the things I was brought up to love. The times are certainly changing. Kids cooped up indoors instead of in the fresh air. Only interested in social media and their mobile phones. Yuk. I am beginning to sound like an old fart:) as for poets, they will always find something to write about. You eloquently express my own thoughts here dear poet 🌹

Teddy, for once I don’ t really know to how put this, but to me you so certainly mirrored clearly the crap which exists out there, then asked for a different orientation….. Would the world be….?? Not sure, but I would hope so….. The poet either gets with it or shuts up!!!
(Can’t put an appropriate emoji, but you I hope can guess where my heart is…)
