I don\'t know if the demons in our head will die when we do, I often wonder: if we reach the depths of hell, is our pain going to come from burning or from the torture of our minds? \"They say you die twice. One time when you stop breathing and a second time, when somebody says your name for the last time.\" For some of us, that happens at the same time.

Profound, deep, dark and fun. That is how I would describe this. This, my friend, is a raw and unflinching look at death, legacy, and the human condition and you challenge readers to consider their own mortality and the impact they might leave behind, if any. The cynicism is my home and, truthfully, the ending was killer! Loved this my friend. An easy fave! โค๏ธ๐๐น๐

I guess we nearly all have a little (or a lot) of the Starmer in us. I think this is how he is able to operate. Imagine him and his ilk trying to operate in a (real) golden age.
Great write!

You\'re my peer, not much elder than myself, yet herein force me to face the reality that such horrendous and hellish worlds have been flourishing the whilst others, as ever, enjoy happier.... for ages. Winsomely rendered with excellent imagery and a resonating, reverberating poignancy. Thank you so very, very much for sharing.

Being from the US, I am not too familiar with Mr. Starmer or grooming gangs, but yikes! This poem is a straight-up callout for accountabilityโsomething we could use more of everywhere, not just in the UK. And...listening to both sides and not hiding behind ignorance...Politicians in particular have a real hard time doing this. Truthfully, though, that is a human issue all around. It definitely hits hard and true and makes me think about how often leaders dodge responsibility instead of facing the truth. Well done on this, my friend. Well done. ๐น๐

Strong words and a powerful message sent to those with an inflexible view and harded heart. Unfortunately most of us are set in our ways and unwilling to do what it takes to change our views and thereby comfortable lives. Well spoken with conviction and a sense of reproach and anger.

A tough read Tobani, but very well delivered. To think that children in care, the most vulnerable children of all have to suffer this and worse is truly upsetting. So sorry the little you had to deal with this.

Wow. Standing alone sans the author\'s note this is a very pretty number, the additional information raising it to heights far beyond. How charmingly rendered with nigh exquisite imagery and seeming so chock full it is like a meal which would have satisfied the unfortunate soul if only words could pull that off. Hauntingly poignant on its own, your note raises it to near painfulness. Thank you so very much for sharing!

The homeless. We should be ashamed at the number of people sleeping on the streets. I donโt care what the reason is, it is inhumane that anyone should be out in the freezing cold weather, or any other time of year. If illegal immigrants are housed in hotels, then the homeless veterans and others deserve the very same. Your poem Tobani, so well written, touches a nerve and makes me angry.

Wonderful poem, Tobani! Written with lots of emotion and with a heart for the homeless and road side people, great work!
Much appreciated.
I found it not only beautiful but a reality spoken with beautiful words because I am myself a social worker in my city Kolkata, India and I regularly donate people on the roads asking for assistance just to live their lives.
I have also donated 300 Indian Rupees to the famous NGO of our country
Helpage providing home to the homeless, older people on roads, free treatment for people having cancer and other dreadful diseases, orphans, poor children with a intelligent brain and so on.... providing them the life of dignity and respect.
This poem holds good for our country as you know there are lots of people below the poverty line!
We are still much behind in taking out people from the poverty line, a very sad truth...
Anyways thanks again, I loved this poem a lot!! โค๏ธ

there is a lot more of this about than many might imagine & sadly even local councils don\'t know or don\'t wish to know the true extent of the problem .. I still regularly do a homeless count for the local shelter often coinciding with the local authorities head count on particularly cold nights .. and on average, I find and count ten times more street homeless than them .. it makes my blood bloomin boil .. Needless to say, I am glad you touched on this raw nerve PL ..
