I\'m not aware enough of the game or personal circumstances to know why the hell she doesn\'t join a legal brothel, (if they exist in the UK).
A painful write, Tob.

I am sorry your country is going through such devastation. Living in the US, I have been blessed not to eperience such horrific and scary situations. My heart hurts for the innocent people who have no choice but are thrown in a war they don\'t deserve. Thank you for sharing this, it gives one the inside from someone who knows.

How easily we look down upon others. We forget that we are all human beings, brothers and sisters. This poem brings to mind the poem by Willis Unseen company.. Forgive me for introducing this.
“The shadows lay along Broadway for was nearly twilight tide
And slowly there’re a lady fair was walking in her pride
Alone while she but viewlessly walked spirits at her side
Peace charmed the street beneath her feet on honor charmed the air
And all the astir, spoke kind of her and called her good as fair
For all God ever gave to her, she kept with chairy care
She kept with care, her beauty, rare from lovers, warm, and true
For heart was cold to all but gold and the rich came out to woe
But honored well are charms to sell if priests the selling do
Now walking, there is one more fair a slight girl, Lily, pale
And she had unseen company, which would make the spirit quail
Twix wanted and scorn she walked forlorn till nothing could avail
No mercy now can clear her brow from this world’s peace to pray
For as loves wild prayer dissolved in air, her woman’s heart gave away
But the sin forgiven by Christ in heaven, man that curse always”

This is terribly sad but ever so common and true .. I work a lot with sex workers (both male & female) & many have hearts of gold and would do anything to help someone else in need not to mention their own flesh and blood .. Excellent my friend .. Neville

Wow! Putting yourself in other\'s shoes requires thoughtful intentionality and humility. That is so lacking in this world, but your poem shows it is not completely lacking. Indeed, this poem serves as a call to action to all who have open ears and hearts to hear and receive. Excellent poem Tobani! 🌹👏

Survival is everything. If you have a child to feed, you wouldn’t hesitate if you couldn’t find another way to bring in the bread. Don’t judge others, show some compassion. Tabani, you have narrated this situation skillfully. It is a dangerous situation to contemplate, but survival overrules everything else. Wonderfully composed.

An interesting journey. If it is a human one in all very few cases, it is only one sperm that wins the race. It is also an issue of luck as to which fallopian tube they take. Read about evolution as well and survival of the fittest which winds out overtime over luck

Now that’s the story of my beginnings, a quite unplanned pregnancy on my mum’s part. My dad did the responsible thing and stayed, for a while and 4 children later moved on to more “love”-filled relationship. The waypoint out. It makes me realise how amazing that journey was, conception, having partaken but not having any memory of it.

A reality that\'s is worth the reflection, bringing a child in the world, it is the job of every parent to teach our children the positives of life not the negatives that spread the hate and greed that is currently hurting us all. I\'m not sure what the next chapter of the Trump administration will do for good, but we are all waiting to find out, I personally have little hope. ❤️

A most disturbing poem about the innocence of children and how they are affected by the world around them. It also seems a metaphor for people in general that are helpless under the actions of governments that control their lives. Very nicely written.

The innocence of childhood is often punctuated by their exposure to its pain and injustice. Children are a symbol of all people’s helplessness under governments, ulterior motives, and unjust actions. Very nicely written.
