I Have a GUN ( But we can talk)

Spot on! Reminiscent of the tales from our own civil war not quite two centuries ago, the point of these wars not necessarily so much extinguishing the enemy as the very men who built society and kept people on the earth. Ergo our best and brightest were sent to be slaughtered, brothers, fathers, uncles, cousins, to simply be slaughtered in the name of a good cause which didn\'t truly exist. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a very charming poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

A Longing For Freedom

\"...there is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mightest be feared--\" and, \"Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy Kingdom,\" with, \"...Who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle\'s.\" Where I long to comfort you, very thankful to see you back, I\'m uncertain how, precisely, to do so. There is so very much in my past which lies locked up nor faced unless triggered, and which I say is the reason I don\'t like thrillers and movies of such ilk, as it were, since my own life shall suffice for that. So, anyway. Thank you for sharing. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a painful, yet winsome poignancy. I\'m glad to have you back.

A Longing For Freedom
Tristan Robert Lange said:
Now here is both a brilliant poem and a sight for sore eyes. No. Mental Health is no one\'s fault. This poem is profoundly important because it speaks to the reality we who struggle with our mental state are constantly dealing with: undeserved shame. If I got even a penny for every time I was dismissed, written off, and made to feel like \"the problem\" for something \"in their control\" and out of mine, I\'d be a hell of a lot richer. Brilliant, important, hits right! Powerful poem. Great to read you again, dear Tobani! πΉπβ€οΈβπ©Ή

A Longing For Freedom
Victor Bolshov said:
In my eyes, freedom here refers to resolving the inner conflict, ridding of a burden of the guilt, acceptance of one\'s self, seeing yourself for who you are. Invokes thought, good read!

Good to hear from you again Tobani. A poem of internal state and concern over where it is at. Convincing and I don\'t believe that one\'s mental state is their fault. Whether you believe in neurotransmitters, God\'s creation or just predestination none imply blame. Good write my friend

I couldn\'t agree more. A smile to a stranger cost\'s nothing but it could come at just the exact moment when it\'s needed.
Thank you for a lovely poem.

That\'s a great sort of proverb. Can I ask if you wrote it or it\'s a quote?

i try my best to remain smiling, but sometimes circumstances can be really trying - and that\'s when i should learn what you have written - to control the words that can hurt and leave a lasting mark
beautifully explained in a concise manner

Oh no, my friend! What will I do without our ongoing interactions, reading your wonderful poetry, hearing your insightful feedback? I truly appreciate you and look forward to our interactions, friend. They have blessed me and, reading your poem, it seems these interactions with this community have blessed you. If that is the case, then I trust you will return. We all need breaks and I can understand the need for that. If you look back at my publishing history on here since 2017, you\'ll see I took my share. π€£ But here I still am. So, rather than goodbye, I\'ll say take care till next time, my friend! π€β€οΈπ Be well.

you could have written this from a page out of my book for I know the demons of depression all to well. I hope you\'re alright. I am often told I write so much about sorrow and pain. Which I do. What else am I to write about? When I write, I write for me for writing is my only release. I know of no other way. Also since I am wring to myself, I have np choice but to be honest. I can\'t lie to myself. Keep writing and don\'t stop. Believe me, I have notebooks of poetry I have never shared with anyone, yet plenty of relief has been felt by me just penning them, Again, I hope you\'re ok. Please don\'t leave, I just met you. thamk you for sharing a huge part of yourself with me.
