Greatly enjoyed, AS. Atmospheric picture of a British pub. Nice recharge as memory fades slightly....
Apart from you and the barman there weren\'t any blokes. Had they deserted?

Could just imagine the rumpus when doggie owners gathered for liquid and chatter - your poetic-docu. is clearly a fun-raiser to read next time you join that throng. Great write.

I probably listen and watch far too much news and political commentary. And you know where that can lead...To watch others just in the midst of their ordinary apparently carefree lives must be something of a restorative.
Thanks for a nicely framed picture, AS.

It is good to reject negativity, it hacks at one\'s vitality of life.

I know that square. My brother lived in Bingham and later at Sheldon. Very busy on a saturday I remember.

Newark on Trent the lovely market town where my parents spent their late years. Indeed I grew up a little further up the river in the big bad city itself.
I appreciate your words as one who too strayed away and sees with different eyes on returning.

Your rock, your springboard.

AS: Little do I understand (or for that matter care) about the electoral vote in the UK. However I can relate to the observation that the relationship between the yobbos, of what ever stripe, the media and the pollies there as here, is a right royal pain in the arse......lol.

Great words Ben, my hair was the same, I had gone back to my seventies look. I wasn\'t bothered about it and I certainly was not going to queue at a barbers, but on Monday I was walking in town and saw that my barbers was empty so I went in and had my hair cut. Went to croquet the following day and they charged me a fiver as new player😂😂😂.

At a time of my life when the choice was between do something about the hole in the seat of my trousers or get a haircut, I chose to cut it myself using scissors which had seen better days. In retrospect I should have followed the example you set in your entertaining piece, but it was a time when everyone was doing it and my contrarian kicked in….

a great read!
\'we oft neglect the \'public house\' roots
of our beloved pubs
so then, once more in timely Spring
they\'ve allowed us to unlock - our castle doors

to simply toast and enjoy, for once
and let it be Fate
forced to wait and contemplate...\'

A Reunion on the River Bank
L. B. Mek said:

such a mellow flow, even initially when reading without context I was thinking of fishing (that Hemingway \'old man and the sea\' resonance) or reminiscing my college days when we used to sit by that river in Richmond and drink our beers outdoors, in the glorious summer (before the masses invaded that is, lol)..
brilliantly executed tone and feel, an immersive read: a timely write
thanks for sharing dear poet
