THE GREATER GOOD
dusk arising said:

Respect is very interesting. Should we quietly allow continual praise for all the good an omnipotent deity does whilst that same OMNIPOTENT deity hands out malformed babies, famine, disasterous weather, terrible afflictions, suffering etc etc... \'oh but thats mankind not god\'..... its downright insulting to be fed such crap day after day.
Persistence may keep some in the darkness of their narrow minded belief but they deserve as much stick as they get when the foist it upon the rest of us with a \'holier than thou\' self righteous stance.

The amazing thing about those lamps is that the cotton wick burns forever, if ones keeps feeding the lamp with butter, and thus the message in my last Diwali Greetings

May all the lamps in your house shine bright
And the darkness be always kept at bay
May all your progeny stay healthy and flourish
Just as the lamp by the oil is nourished

Thnx for both pieces of art.

Michael,

I haven’t thought about or heard those two words “butter lamps” in a very long time! My Italian Great-Grandmother would always say ...
“Lasciate quelle candele di burro accese per il resto della vostra vita”...

Thank you for sharing your talents, Maestro! You’re amazing!

If you really could be tunefully farty
Could you compete with Eric Satie
A real humdinger to make your nose twitch
Like an emboldened blast from Shostakovich
Or would you strain with face gone purple
Symphonic emissions by good old Purcell
But whenever you\'re windy just knock one off
Like thunderous horns of Rachmaninof
