More than twenty species of ducks, geese, and shorebirds migrate to Hawaii each winter. Among them is the Kolea or Pacific Golden Plover which migrates from Alaska to Hawaii every year, more than 4800 kilometers. And they are fast too, covering that distance in three to four days non-stop, since there is only ocean in-between.
