Super emotive write Phil, sometimes it does happen but love is out there for all of us and it will be found and last forever.

A sigh of a read about how a lifetime of being same-minded with someone special can end with a final \"I love you\" - sad but so touchingly well written Phil.

A Wet October Night
Neville said:
you have no idea how close I came to vowing never again when I saw your title ...
I could see it was raining (an understatement) but it was .. or appeared to be broad daylight ...
For a moment or two I thought I had lost a couple of months ...
this is really something Phil .. and it is such a relief to know I\'m not the only one with kinky cravings .....

OOooh is the She who must be obeyed whatever the weather - - an eerie first read of my day makes me look twice through the rain lashing my windowpanes to see who is weaving webs here - great atmospherics in this piece of well rhymed whimsey Phil.

it definitely made me think and read other\'s comment responses and try to investigate, but ultimately I am drawn back to my instinctive realisations - at first read,
this reminds me of a poem by the highly imaginative Robert Browning (who also enjoyed teasing his readers), titled \'My Last duchess\'
https://mypoeticside.com/show-classic-poem-4125
Aside, from the obvious painting analogy shared in both works, there is also that sly smirk of undressing the pretentious perspectives of \'some\', who: although wanting to come across as humane and cultured, are but ravenous opportunist\'s of capitalism, scalping nature of her \'Tulip\'s\', living a life in which their most cherished possession is a diamond pointed - \'belt puncher\'...
thought provoking and immensely engaging from but a single stanza of your glaringly obvious: prowess!

This is so well crafted.. there is a certain familiarity about it..
However, I would be selling you short my friend, if I said I distinctly recall visiting the first version ...
Maybe that is where my compliment should stem from ..
in fact, I am now certain, because I can not see, or imagine how something with so many lines I wish I had first written.. might be bettered...
and now, I only have your word for this...
Nice one.. or two that is :)

Romance always has its ups and downs Phil and your story in this part delivers a sad finalé but maybe part two will see those souls back in harmony again and not like \"two ships sinking in the night\" - - - looking forward to tomorrow\'s posting.

this is one of those rare epic prose poems Phil that tells the whole story, without any unnecessary or distracting frills.. but tells it straight while firing from the hip and hitting the spot .. not only that, dunno whether you may have already noticed, but there is a certain theme & ultimate conclusion that both your \'Harmony of Souls - Part 1\' and my own \'Two Weeks in July\' seem to share.... anyway, stay both safe n well my friend...

Had to read this I dont know how many times.. not because it was too deep, but because it blew me away..
your fourth stanza is something else entirely... You sir are the only other person bar me I know, who has mentioned a bittern in such a meaningful way within a poem....
Not sure why only me & Andy have left our visiting cards behind...

What broke your broken heart
Neville said:
Hey, I have absolutely no idea why any of the seventeen visiting viewers prior to my own perusal left anything of themselves behind, here on this well filled page...
I can only assume that some of them at least, either had poor taste, or were in a rush...
I know it happens and it never ceases to annoy me that folk often just cant be bothered..
I am usually quite a calm and mild mannered kinda guy but passing through without so much as an acknowledgment sucks....
Anyway .. at least ya know I have been sniffing around... I enjoyed \'What Broke Your Broken Heart\' which had a good storyline behind it... it actually reminded me a little bit of both Dory Previn & Janis Ian .. that is a compliment by the way.. My only reservation was the format... I reckon these fine words may have been more aesthetically appealing had they been aligned to the left rather than centrally... Indeed I took the liberty of copying and re-formatting just to check my theory.. and yep.. I think I might just be right.... Why not see what you think....

Jo March said:
It is such a beautiful poem. I felt that you took me along on this lovely walk. I imagined everything you did and saw on this walk. It was such a pleasure to read. I particularly enjoyed these lines: Life too, has landing spots that need hauling... what life would have been like when those islands were the playgrounds for Boston’s elite. They are so beautiful, so moving -- life unfolding before my eyes at a glance. Thank you so much for this lovely poem.
