A lovely poem. And one that you have traversed with your wife though most of. I think that\'s so beautiful!

A whole life in a poem, Goldfinch. You did a tremendous job here and I commend you. Love the whole poem, so poetic, but especially the last six lines. I guess because that is where I am at this time in my life.

Now it\'s started me singing \'As Jacob with travel was weary one day\' - the ladder. I must have known it from primary school, so millions of years ago!

A fine write Gold. Sounds like \'Pilgrim\'s Progress\' by John Bunyan.
Meanwhile - my hill suddenly got much steeper. The wedding, you know!
And - you packed your bags for Hastings? Were there hills there?!

Perception.

What an aura we create through self knowledge...... but people need to be perceptive to perceive dont they. And they do say that first impressions last ...which is sometimes true. Sight being the dominant sense makes a nonsense of the whole issue....

This is great writing Goldie. It made me think even more about that question. Am I being myself? The beginning is to find our true self, what is not easy either.

Goldfinch, you may have been inspired by Mugsdaddy, but you wrote something all your own. Something beautiful and true, your own self. Sometimes we worry too much about how other people see us and end up slipping into a role, playing the person we think they want to see. And that person may not be us.

Yep, his sense of humour is wicked! Once you learn to accept what he/she/it is showing you. Wish i\'d seen it a long time ago. I hope your piece encourages some to think about it and hopefully see.

In Plymouth, Massachusetts there is astatue about 140 feet tall called \"Our Forefather\'s Monument\" of a lady holding a book in one arm, and the other hand pointing a finger up towards the sky. Whenever I see it I wonder if God has a sense of humor and envision a statement to God, \"Hey God, pull my finger\"

A fine write Gold! lol. There\'s the saying \'If God has accepted me, he will accept anyone\'!
Yet there is simplicity and profundity in human beings being accepted by God by coming to Him through Christ.

But Still We Laugh.
malubotelho said:
Oh Goldie! This is very sweet. In my family we don\'t have dementia yet but my ex husband mother she has it has a long, long time. We laughed sometimes with her too because she got to be like a child. She laughs all the time and then sometimes she also cries for no apparent reason. She is going to be a hundred this year.

Gold - It\'s a tough situation you are in, but to be able to find humor anywhere in ones life is reason enough to go on living. When we laugh at ourselves we laugh loudest. To write about your situation, perhaps will help relieve some of the anxiety. Keep on laughing, keep on smiling, and keep on writing. - Phil A.
