Insightful poem. Like Dusk Arising I had an unplanned goodbye when my dear friend also fell off a cliff. That was the first image that came to mind when I read your poem.

Hardball write, Neville.
Denial creates head-on collisions in slow motion.

I can totally relate to the intense emotions you have exposed, for I have witnessed first hand the mental trauma they experience, and my abject failure in getting through to them. Though poetic, yet powerful

So how are your feet now Neville? LOL

The maintenance of a good lady\'s esteem requires more than the occasional, out of the blue, turn up. The emphasis here upon the word \'good\'.

A wee bit of tension going on there? They\'ve got one hell of a past, Neville, and he may need his feet in good condition to get out in a hurry....

Such sadness in these words, I too have spoken to a young girl whose only way out seemed to be self harming, I hope that my words helped her.
Self harming seems so prevalent nowadays in young people so what is going wrong in these days are they not being treated well by their parents/guardians.
Strange world.

Good write, Neville.
An interesting character to write about. What was the source of her tension?

I had often heard of young people cutting themselves, and never understood why they could do such a thing. Now, after reading your poem here N, I feel like I do understand why they cut themselves, and that they can learn to not do so. To value their life and future. Great write N. ; )

The following individual response is specifically for Doggerel Dave .. but anyone else too if interested ..

Hello DD,
Am so glad you asked that question ..
The inspiration for this little scribble actually sprang from one of the very last clinical sessions I had with a young South American patient of mine who used to cut her beautiful self terribly as a means of tension release ...
I am in fact both proud and pleased to report she has never admitted (and I believe her) having cut her self since ... I get a card each year both for Christmas (she does not know I am Buddhist) and my birthday ....

All Good Things,

Neville :)

Maybe One of Us Should Leave

its an archaic, yet ageless tradition
to let our poisonous roots - bleed, to heal
although
the drippings, that trail our regrets
follow us, long - long: after our poem\'s
tableau...
what a brilliant, subtle
and heart wrenchingly acute depiction, my friend
\'so - so relatable
that infuriating: suddenness
of too, fuckin late!\'

I always liked the word \'Passing\'
in this context
see, between Nature and \'We\'
of sentient awareness, what\'s unquestionable
is that gentle resonance, we feel
intuitively - mostly;
where, what we see - has a role
in what we feel, and
what we - celebrate, has a tether
to what we let go...
so this here words of dedication, serenade
that timeless tradition
where Nature salutes, and winks
to comfortingly let us know, there may
be more to our story
after those final blinked curtains
open our passageway
to that encore of relativity, awaiting
our realisation
of unbreakable connectivity, to all things
deemed existence
in that endless - matter, of our universe.
(I\'m sorry for you loss brother
and I thank you
for creating sometime so beautiful
out of the Phoenix: of your unwavering Love)

Three T’s
L. B. Mek said:

\'selfless, selfish and surreal
three S\'s, that distractedly insure
we\'re all hindered, just enough\'
to be left at the mercy
of your Tyrannical: T\'s..
a thought provoking shorty, thanks for the insight
dear poet

You\'ve stunned me into silence - no singing! I heard horrific stores about cutting. *shudders*.

Strong emotions here in this poem, and your comments add to the symbolism of love. Sunflowers and dolphins to honor a loved ones\' passing. Is there a connection? A lovely tribute. - Phil A.
