Just Another Shot in The Dark
L. B. Mek said:

for me, Hyung
the saddest part
is the betrayal that lingers
long after the traumas has been overcome bravely,
that\'s what makes it so hard to trust again
because we all judge the threat levels we encounter
but when we choose to entrust our safety
to another we deem, worthy
and that\'s taken advantage of
so mercilessly
for merely seconds of depraved gratification...
it breaks our capacity to trust
those we may deem, as safe in the future
and poisons our connections with people irreversibly...
and perpetrators barely get years as sentence for such crimes
while survivors spend a lifetime dealing with it
🤬🤬🤬
(and we say \'stay safe, be aware\'
but of who, strangers?
when its the people around us
that usually plot or opportunistically
act out such despicable acts)
this is why I can never do your profession
the empath in me will end-up a vigilante mass murderer

(breakup\'s need to be confronted
while wearing bullet proof jackets
just like, setting sail comes with life jacket access
for those left behind...)
yeah, been there got the t-shirt
n try as I might, years later
I can\'t get that regret to wash out...
thank you! Hyung
for me this was somewhat therapeutic to read
and respond to

A moment together is far more valuable than an eternity apart and such a memory accompanies one for life and perhaps beyond. Because it\'s a connection between souls and forever embedded in the heart. Time passes yet it\'s a moment frozen in time. A beautiful sentiment told in lovely verse Neville. Loved this!❤

I found this so very hauntingly beautiful. A bit intriguing too as the safe haven is dark, as mostly such a place is associated with light and brightness. Darkness gives the feeling of uncertainty, unknownness, and a racing heart(just my thoughts), which makes your words all the more interesting. And the repetition makes the feelings of grief more poignant. Sometimes darkness is far more peaceful and healing than a brilliant hues of light. Perhaps the darkness is because of being afraid of reality?
Anyways, this felt very sincere to me and I absolutely loved it!

\'When there\'s no one else and nowhere to go,\" only then do you wish to \"lay there\" with her. And why a \"secret room?\" I was a bit confused, and also lost by the \"V\", but that\'s probably a good thing.
If this is a plain old statement of love, then it is beautiful. If it\'s a specific kind of love, then I am lost.
Forgive me if this sounds confusing, it\'s because I am. - Phil A.

We may not remember numbers, but we remember words. Yours are particularly touching and help to embed the muse in time for the rest of eternity. Thank you.

Pathos issues from every line here - and from the title too -- the feeling of being abused goes so sadly deep into the psyche . - -- a relatable write for both genders methinks Nev.....x

At reading your title, I\'d thought this was going to be about the rock band Ten Years After. But I was still not disappointed.

Same could be said about these exchanges of poetry. But perhaps they would have to be read aloud as the eyesight is gradually but surely fading as well.

This is so amazinggggg!!
Neville you have versified the \"last look\" so aptly.
Be it from a lover, a family member.
It reminded me of my late mother,
and the times she\'d glance at me from her hospital bed.
Or the times when she felt better, and gave me her signature mommy stare.
Thank you for this Neville.
Those times definitely have the power to \"bear [their] name\" forever in our memories.

I\'ve been told that, to a sailor\'s wife, every encounter is a last encounter. She sailed away on the bow of his boat and left you standing on the shore. That look of longing encourages a sense of unfulfillment.
What a concise and exact depiction of parting ways. Thoroughly enjoyed it. - Phil A
