(sorry dear Poet I read your wonderfully insightful words and I couldn\'t help just typing away
a feeble poetic response
thanks for sharing and inspiring)
society needs, its festivities
to cut through, life\'s endless repetitiveness
to help manufacture
collective moments of gaiety
so once
we celebrated, our harvests
and now we celebrate our faith anchored deities,
whatever it takes, to distract us
to insure we survive, life itself
so every year, someone
finds newfound joy in those firecrackers
or gets that perfect present for their loved one
or get\'s that turkey to come out, just right
whatever it is, whatever it takes
let it be
we do it all, in the hope
that we\'ll be the generation
to finally discover, the why
in that we inherit and are indoctrinated
to appreciate...
so let it be
now \'Cyber Monday\'s\'
whatever works, next
let it be...

For some genuine Christians, all this commercialisation must rankle. For me if it\'s not Christmas, then Easter, Mother\'s day, Father\'s day, even Halloween all seem to be of the same mold.
I, an agnostic atheist still exchange presents on Christmas day......
Thanks for the steep learning curve, Soren - never heard of Odin or Black Friday...

A ditty came to me, but not a full poem:
Ding dong, merrily on high,
On earth the tills are ringing....

I\'ve not seen an eight legged horse. It would save money to hire it, and save a horse\'s energy. Only one horse needed instead of two? lol.

Sombras

\'Changing with every transformation The stronger the love The more we are captive The greater the control\'
I hear Pessoa, more specifically
Albert Caeiro
that most pragmatic and cynical
of poetic voices
but in that very directness
there\'s a romanticism straining at the leashes
wishing, the world was more like the way your wrote it
I just wish i could speak/read the language to appreciate it in full

what a relatable distillation
at once offering a comprehensive
description
and simultaneously, invoking remembrance
of our own experiences..
really well executed, a great write!

In the shadows is a truth, a concept that is nascent as the womb good one Soren. Bom dia! (And I am not fluent in Portuguese at all!)

As with night terrors and anxiety attacks, the sheerness of unadulterated panic is often unexplainable to the mind! Thanks Soren

Impending doom I cannot quite place... Thankfully once I declined the medication, it disappeared. A well written reminder of a terrible time. Thanks Soren.

You pose quite a serious question in this little pearl. A blameless life might give sweet repose, but on the other hand who does not at times second guess everything they\'ve ever done. Thank you for my contemplation of the day.

All I have is now - dead right Soren.
The \'dead\' may well be true of tomorrow, but today is here, I have it, can use it. Yesterday cannot be changed.
Confirm I understood every word of your poem. Important principle engaged with here.
