This is deep. Maybe one day we can stop carrying this cross. Does it count if our innocence is taken against our will....

certain memories are so painful, that it\'s best to find relief from closure, and try to forget them, and move on in life..never try to dredge them up and hurt you once again

I DON\'T REMEMBER! I don\'t remember

Oh, my dear friend. I could already feel your pain in the title and the poem; but your note hit me deep as well. I want to say this up front, your anger is completely on point and valid. Righteous even. It\'s incredible what we can remember/can\'t forget versus what we can\'t remember/do forget. Defense mechanisms. In my understanding of God, dear friend, it is not that God is doing it to you. It happened to you to no fault of your own and not because God willed it. The trauma causes us to protect ourselves. Defense mechanisms we have. So, in that sense, we can say God gave us the ability to survive terrible, awful trauma. At least, that is how I have come to understand it. That said, God hears your cries, dear friend, and is with you...in Spirit, yes! But also through the presence of those who love you....in person, online, wherever. You are loved by me and many others on here...and as I see it, that is God too! That said, I also believe God understands our need to cry out and God has gifted you with the ability to express it, get it out so that others can read, relate and find presence through your words. How many people (in the Psalms alone) call out to God the way you just did here? So relatable. God hears and God is with you, my friend. As your poem brilliantly expresses, forgetting is its own scar—it’s not fake, it’s survival. You named that truth in a way that hits hard and stays. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛ A fave!

Memory can be cruel or kind it also can be accurate or distorted. I choose to remember the good things, it leaves me happy. Digging for garbage stinks but if one wants to build on top of it sometimes it needs to be removed. To remove it though sometimes requires professional help so as to not expose oneself to too much toxic waste. Well written

It\'s a protective measure. What you\'ll be horrified to learn later is how memories which now are inaccessible will be triggered to rear their heads when you least expect it. Or so I\'ve experienced. Excellently rendered with great imagery and a deadly poignancy. Thank you for sharing. Hang in there.

🥷 poet , this is quiet but devastating…each “maybe” pulling me closer to that final, unshakable truth. The restraint in your words makes the impact hit even harder. Very, very relatable. Beautifully written, my friend. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛

That common thought that most have of what if. What could have been, should have been, would have been never are able to be answered. A very powerful statement the last sentence. It rings out in anguish of regret and doubt. But a broken child may still find repair within themselves if given a chance for the glue to dry and the cement to set. A lovely write NinjaGirl

Questions I and many others have always asked like yourself. There are those who will say it happened when you were a child, you should of got over it by now. To me your last line says it all, I have tried my whole life to find a repair kit that works and I haven\'t. For me a raw write, nicely expressed and written

My friend, this is raw and stripped of any false comfort, which you do so beautifully. You’ve captured how pain can wear anger’s face, and how quickly others turn against what they don’t understand. The melting hilt is a haunting image. 🌹🖤🙏🕯️🐦⬛ So glad you’re back!

Brilliant! The poem starts with powerful anger and actual damage that moves to the threat of a noose and ends with a toy threat that like anger moves from rage through threat to a joke. Very nicely done a fave

The Statute of Limitations applies to crimes formally, but yes it applies to the events of our lives and what we do about them... wait to long and the remedies may be barred... welcome back.

A very difficult decision to make, feeling you want justice, understanding to try to put the pain to bed, then on the other hand do I really want to relive it all. I faced a similier situation many years ago, I chose to leave it and even to this day I am not sure I made the right decision. Wishing you all the best
