Immersion: Lessons in the Deep
sorenbarrett said:
A great metaphor for many types of learning I put children in swimming lessons when they were small because I did not want to have one drown. My youngest daughter started when she was barely walking and was the best swimmer of them all holding her breath for long periods swimming along the bottom. Later we would all swim off the beach out to the reef and stay for an hour or so snorkeling to see the fish. But knowing to swim can be a danger too when one over estimates and I remember my oldest son going out right after a hurricane to board the waves. I could not bear to watch for I knew I was not a strong enough swimmer to be of any use if he got in trouble. Lovely Soheil

Nicely written despair is never a welcome guest it always comes and stays although unwelcome just like some relatives. As a landlord it would be unbearable.

The Sea of Worry

A true write that although distraction can serve momentarily when it ends the problem remains. Deal with the problem is the most logical but not always the easiest. A most interesting write Soheil. For years I have worked with people with anxiety and it is often one of the most difficult problems to heal.

Nails of Memory
sorenbarrett said:
A great metaphor again my friend. Nails of memory some driven flat and others protruding that wound from time to time. To pull them might prove difficult and even if possible with out them breaking off would leave a hole and may loosen what they hold. Better to hammer them back in. A wonderful write Soheil

A Man Beneath the Sky of Questions and Unanswered Windows

A fable if you would with a moral. The introduction of mythology is a great touch. Whether the lamp is one of Aladdin or the fire of Prometheus brought to man it runs through the poem as the light of reason and the magical genie the introduction of Sisyphus and the wings of Icarus as well as others enrich this write. The final question was not foreseen but stands as a measure of wisdom and tolerance. Nicely written my friend

Beautifully written this poem sends an even stronger message. History is written by winners and even within winning groups those with power write themselves into glory while those without power are forgotten. A lovely write and a fave

Just by saying one word can identify somebody so fast without even knowing them hoping in one day, people would ask the question why instead of just absorb the information
A lovely poem that’s so realistic. It hurts, but also lovely in a way that someone else understands.

Such an understanding write of wisdom where knowing what others think or feel can not be placed in words of others or even in what one sees. We can not know what is in their mind even by their own words. Said so well in the word silence between it speaks volumes. Well done

Exposed Roots
sorenbarrett said:
This poem has deeper roots that are not fully exposed. There is that feeling of exposure when one is partially uprooted but as it says in the beginning it did not fall so some principle roots remain probably the tap root that source of life. Nicely written my friend.

Healing

These are not just beautiful poetic words but deep wisdom that like that rain and river quench the thirst of those that will listen. Although the whole poem should not be broken into pieces in my reading I was particularly struck by and love the stanza:
\"Sometimes
being
lies in letting go,
not in holding on;
just as the river,
by passing,
remains a river\"
This seems the obverse or other side of the coin of Heraclitus that said a man can not step into the same river twice and when I read this it struck me hard as that balance spoken in the same metaphor just as profoundly. This write has the ring of a classic and in my weakness of envy only wish that I had written it.

Inversion

A most interesting poem where word play takes first place where meanings invert (what we go through goes through us, leaving behind what goes though us, out running what pulls us along, Quenching our thirst with what drinks from our thirst, An inversion (reversed, upside down, inside out) what better title than this. What a wonderful line \"standing like an earth that does not know which way the sky is. Being surrounded by sky it is in all directions. Thought provoking work Soheil

Philosophy the study that has no answers. Well written containing the continued challenges and uncertainties the changes of each question. Vagueness begets vague answers. I had a philosophy course once where the final exam had one question Why? I wrote a great deal and got a B a friend of mine wrote Because and got an A

A most lovely write of longing and questioning where he waits for a daughter\'s response. Wonderful imagery fill the poem and great metaphors are used as the river knowing its way to the sea. Very nicely written it feels so intimate.

Thank you for sharing that—it is a beautiful reflection. I find the connection between breath, life, and being deeply meaningful. The idea that, in ancient understanding, to breathe was synonymous with living is fascinating. It reminds us that existence itself is a profound mystery and that life is both a gift and a continual expression of that sacred reality. I appreciate your sharing this perspective.

This is a marvelous poem well designed that has multiple ways of seeing it. When first looking at it the L written l appeared as an I bringing up Alister Crowley\'s IO Pan the whole issue of gender and sexuality in love. The title itself is intimate, although we all share breath and reveals at a deeper level the intimacy of all mankind and life in general. The breaking of the words into letter combinations is illustrated well in the last breaking of h ear ts where hear ear and hearts all fall into place. Very nicely done
