You\'ver just about covered it all, Soren. in the urban setting where I live, a combination of local councils, electricity suppliers (overhead power lines)and some residents who seem threatened by anything taller than themselves (trees are triffids or wot?) mean vigilance and the willingness to speak up are always necessary.

This one hits me where I live, literally. My home is pretty much surrounded by tall trees, and my morning walk is through tree lined roads. I\'ve hugged a lot of trees on vacation, and go outside to say goodnight before bedtime. So for me, you couldn\'t have chosen a better or more beautiful subject. We see them and we take them for granted. Thank you dear poet for extolling all of their virtues, for without them we would not live. This such a fav!

Nice. My bonsai are long gone, to much a vagabond and the lack of a homebase didn\'t help.

Ted, Tell A Vision

I now note, having been distracted by Ted K, that I didn\'t give adequate note to your actual post.
As usual I enjoyed your poetic form, though intrigued by the content.
Though by the end you\'ve focused on technology, at the start it would appear that your attention is on the perils of science. Come on Soren, there have to be some benefits...LOL!

Not sure what to make of this. Actually don\'t recall hearing anything about Ted Kaczynski before. Investigated - sent me down an extensive rabbit hole.... Brother David seems to have remained on the right side...
Thanks Soren.

Faint is the memory and familiar the awareness of consciousness and recall. That is given structure in the weaving of and progression of detail and feel throughout the poem. A triumph Soren! Rik.

For me, the second stanza breathtakingly epitomizes the endless cycle and mystery of a life that we have yet to understand, and most likely never will. We can only live it.You have described this beautifully. It truly is a great a fav.

And just before I\'m going to bed too....
Something to do with Halloween?
Seems like a fairly commercial enterprise to me (like Xmas gone wrong?)
Still there\'s a couple of houses in my street that seem to get it...
As far as I can gather, you are in tune with the spirit of it all,

An either way image and metaphor. Each also a reflection of the other for the players in both are in possession of hearts and minds that interlock and grow and transform. TFS!

Dear friend I find this incredible on so many levels. I love the wonderful rhyming pattern that allows it flow so freely. The loose tile can be an analogy for so many things that we choose to ignore in life, or cannot face. Thought provoking and a fav!

Soliloquy of courage, honesty and forgiveness
Bella Shepard said:
Powerful my dear friend. In this late stage of life I recognize all that you say, for age allows deeper reflection. Oscar Wilde famously said that \"With age comes Wisdom\". I would say that with experience comes wisdom, if we\'re lucky. Maybe youth is wasted on the young. I have found the capacity, at my age, to forgive myself, accept who I was, and understand why I was that person in different stages of my life. I can truly say that I like the person I see in the mirror now, and consider her my friend. Thank you for this deep dive of reflection, it is truly cathartic.

Choices
Bella Shepard said:
What a marvelous question, and one that requires contemplation. If life were preconceived there would be no reason to question, doubt, explore, learn. It would be static and unfulfilling. I would definitely choose the land of fee will, with all the good and bad. For there would lie the element of possibilities and invention. Thank you, a great write!

Curley one, soren….
While the first land seems irrefutably the way to go, this Brave New World would lack motivation, highs and lows a sense of adventure, and so on…
Now your second world for all its faults is dynamic, interesting with aways the chance of redemption (no religious connotations).
And anyway, we ain’t got the choice…
Enjoyed the write.

You blow my mind with this poem, as does time, entropy, the whole shebang. I read this poem several times, and each time it became more profound. Our time, compared to cosmological time, is not even a fraction of a nanosecond. How can we comprehend the incomprehensible? Wonderful write, a great fav.

Reminds me of the Jedi sacred writings that was supposed to have been incinerated by Yoda to shake up a jaded Luke Skywalker. It\'s not about what\'s inked but the spirit in/of which they were written and sent off.

Do you believe?
Doggerel Dave said:
Funnily enough, soren prior to my arrival here I had used the word \'believe\' in relationship to another piece posted today and then rejected in preference for certainty.
And therein lies the difference: Belief is a perception without real evidence to verify any of the social constructs you list.
Could almost be developed into a mantra. Well said.
