Simple yet beautifully written. It enabled me to feel how you felt. The doubt that surrounds you intrigues me ... in fact if you were my own daughter I would ask you to walk up to him and talk to 'him' just to test the water to see if it's too hot, too cold or just right. Good Job Emi!

Excellent! And the initial assessment that she should just keep silent is probably better, in the long run. If he is so stupidly cold-hearted to have caused the break in the first place, what profit seriously is her chasing after the renewal of his former affections? You depicted it beautifully in the bittersweet reality. Oh, how true! She'll wish she'd said it, but hopefully she'll learn that she was better off silent.

Poetically, it's beautiful, and an epic way to express another way of sad in love.

Aww... Sucks that you haven't been in a writing feeling lately, 'cause I've really missed you and your poems while you were off! This is a good one, by the way :) Wanting to remember everything... that's true.

Can't Do Anything Right
Anna said:

This is sad.... It reminds me of how I always have a hard time making the right decision, and how many people always ask me "Why can't you do anything right?" But it's beautiful poetically, beautiful and saaad.

Can't Do Anything Right

Sorrowful, indeed. It seems, though, an excellent acknowledgment of our very real condition and fallibility. While our deceitful heart persuades us that we are so promising, instead, in a very real sense, we really can't do anything right. Fascinating, sad, and thought-provoking. Bittersweetly beautiful.

Far Behind
Cheeky Missy said:

Almost virulent, passionately fierce and definitely dangerous. A vengeful piece indeed, threatening and lingering, the conclusion effectively making the words "far behind" a lie, since if the threat holds, the speaker will never really be so "far" behind ever. Fascinating, eerie, haunting and chilling. Rather ugly in that sense. Well done if that was the intent.

That was a very nice poem, I've always read about ones where someone leaves you, but now it's the other way around :P

If Only I Had Known

Thought-provoking and again, very fascinating. It expresses the experience aptly, poignantly evoking a reminder of folly repented too late. We frequently realize our mistakes when it is too late unfortunately. One point I disagree on though, stanza 7, it could not have been but hatred that wanted the separation, seems to me. Now in the loss the speaker cannot but long impossibly for a renewal, but it was indeed odious hate that drove the dagger through. Love would not have done it. Self-love, mayhap craves the return for formerly detested affection, whereas true love never would have crushed it. There's my two bits, for whatever their worth. Anyway.

The conclusion is brilliant for many cannot disagree, never realizing how much they cared until they lost it and the hurt etched indelibly stayed. All your comparisons were fascinating to read and ponder. I enjoyed it.

Memories
Cheeky Missy said:

For mere random contemplations in miserable moments, this is thought-provoking and hard-hitting. The introduction is examined and revived as a fitting conclusion. The assessment of the proffered "love" as lust is excellent, yet we are all selfish by nature and that is the majority of our romantic love. The memories linger and torment in such cases, yet they are part of all our existence, so in blissful circumstances only renew the pleasures later and seem to be sometimes all that is left anytime of "life."....Just some thoughts on the spur of reading it. Fascinating and well done!

I've read the comments, and if you are sad about the situation, then don't be. Sad things aren't worth our time, and so we shouldn't dwell on them. Now, happy things, on the other hand... keep them for a life time, 'cause they'll always make you smile!
