Heart of Deception

The first shape appeared the box the second the half eaten heart. The work has elements of Poe, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Jack the Ripper. A gruesome story with a meaning. Metaphor galore in this piece. Vivid imagery and nicely worded it pulls the reader on.

\"...all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;...the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.\" (Rom 3:23;6:23) Eerily sinister and rendered to effect with haunting imagery and a damning poignancy, thank you for sharing.

Dang! I caught Cynthia perched high overhead ere dawn revealed her lover, knowing she would be at her peak momentarily, forgetting by then to seek her when she truly was. Argh. Thank you for reminding me. Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Welcome to reality, we are crowning thee with the laudable bays, take thy seat? [Funny that was the prompt, my close friend\'s original doubtless spurred it.] Exquisitely rendered with gorgeous imagery and an intriguing poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

I sensed the freedom in the first half of this poem and the confinement in the second. Whether purposeful or not the word usage conveyed that feeling to me and it seemed ingenious and masterful beyond normal parameters. Very nicely written.

When it gets lighter, folks say \'The days are getting longer\'. But each day is still 24 hours - how are the days getting longer?! heehee.

Tristan this poem filled with delightful alliteration, anaphora, oxymoron irony, and a general dark flavor. It takes one on a journey of gray to the end of day. Lovely and well written my friend.

Boy oh boy are you going into the darkness, but the write hits the nail on the head, doesn\'t matter how much you accumulate, how many things you do in life, you will die like the rest of us.the picture reminds me what i see behind me when I look in the mirror, enjoyed the read

No.... that\'s actually NOT quite true, but I\'m a woman and shouldn\'t \"teach\" a man. Let me leave it at that. Most superbly rendered in sheer perfection with excellent imagery and a fitly haunting, yes damning, poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Whoa! You literally had me reeling thanks to using the same image yet paring it so deliciously with a more apt delineation than initially. Cull a low whistle, will you?! Well. Gorgeously rendered with superb imagery and an exquisite poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

I read this poem, researched the Holbein painting and reread the poem Tristan. You have truly excelled here. Such detail in the description, the imagery is graphic and your choice of language and the alliteration top notch. An exceptional write which left me in thought for sometime afterwards at the cruelty of our species, the suffering we cause and the fact that we are all going to die anyway. Haunting and masterful.
