Fantastic, the full circle of life, where the hell did it go, and how do you get it back. I\'m never sure if you should ever go back, even if the memories evoke great times, your head eventually kicks in and brings you back to earth.

A wonderful metaphor stated in a very moving manner. It is an ingenious play on words as well. All those leaves taken for all the times that a person left. To put them back on the tree is a wonderful way of saying that their absence is forgotten, Well done

Had you waited a long time to make that offer, dusk?
My somewhat literal mind sometimes has trouble with such metaphorical imagery, but not here.
I\'m not overly fond of open endings; is there a follow up?

So utterly moving and what more can a friend offer than help to another who is suffering. A verse to go straight to my list of favourites dear Dusk.

I was going to have a go - you actually did a rhymer...hypoc...nah, you would only claim it as a nursery rhyme, albeit a little extended...
Love \'em - keep \'em coming - they make me remember being young, so very long ago (sigh).

reading these words
felt like that initial dive
in-to a cool outside pool
see, for a while
you\'re lost to the world
deep within water\'s, fantastical realms
and you kick deeper
from line to stanza
till, far too quickly
you\'re back up for air, and reality
and that otherworldly sensation
is lost, till
you next, dip
into poetic ink
that can transform you there
once again...
a great read! thanks Dusk

An intriguing write. Open to interpretation, is this the thought of a romance that never occurred or one of which the end result was not what had been expected. The reference to the west infers death and was this relationship interrupted by such and regrets the result. Which ever the resolution to never return to this place is a lesson learned.

\"where his dreams of what could have been
met with the promise of what should have been\" I mean do I have to say any further. Really this was a poem full of meaning and imagery so divine. I love the way you described this and the second stanza serving as a little flashback to the past of the \"good old days.\" Tumultuous and wonderful.

\'turning now into the eyewatering wind
he gazed to the smudge of distant moonlit horizon
nature\'s fantasy, melding sea and sky
where his dreams of what could have been
met with the promise of what should have been
still haunting his troubled nights\'
(some of our reverie, rivers
cut, too deep
for us to swim, within
so we merely, dip
our fingers of poetic ink
and recall, briefly
in some choice, words
we pen, illuminatingly bright
to hide
our shadows of regret
and then, just as quickly
file away
our write, to those untameable seas
of our once, cherished
past)
simply Brilliant! your poetry
at its most poignant Best, Dusk
thank you! dear cherished Poet

Such an emotive and good write, Dusk! I shivered at \"Oppenheimers little toy\", but does Putin have children or people that he loves? Hard to say, I just hope he doesn\'t make anymore rash decisions.
