This is a wonderful tribute, N! As you said \"Lay him down gently\" I got shivers down my spine. Military funerals are so hard to attend, for me at least. The last being of my grandpa and they play \'taps\' here and that always gets me. Anyway, you did one hell of a job on this!

Poemed to perfection this caring tribute to a friend with a chest full of medals and ribbons earned by his efforts to stay over the top again and again - - certainly not just any old fella and we as readers will remember Bill Stamp along with this mention of his valued example of what peace and love of justice means. A fine and very moving write Nev,..............x

\'All bent down the middle ..
Nor was he just skin and bone
He once was a
father, a brother, a lover and
somebodies son ..
Moreover, on more than just
one odd occasion
he went over and over and
over the top ..\'
Dusk\'s comment, spoke to me
\'Are we the last generation to respect our elders?\'
not while Supreme Poet\'s like you, Hyung
share such emotive poems
invoking that respect and gratitude
we should never forget
for those who stood up and championed Peace
by bloodying their fingers and minds
and scarring their lives...

Are we the last generation to respect our elders? All the adults around me as a child had war stories they could tell but rarely did. I never found out what my dad actually did In WW2 other than to know he was an RN lieutenant and had the scars to prove he\'d seen action. He just wouldn\'t talk about it other than a few sights he had witnessed.
A couple of years ago i was sat in a sainsbury cafe when I was introduced to an old boy at the next table. He was a VC and had been on the beaches at D day. I found myself full of respect for the man and regarded him much as i would if he were royalty.
I imagine the future generations in wartorn Ukraine will be respectful of their elders.

Well Bill Stamp is certainly deserving of your very fine piece today. Bent and smelly but that\'s just the shell which contains the spirit of the man. ... Respect.

A really moving write Neville.

Very emotive write
Giving to words to patriotism in heart
That is the flag that shall rise
When a soldier wears love for her nation
Each drip of blood shall flow for her nation
For that the flag to furl
Furl with freedom in the air

Sincere words dipped with patriotism
Good one dear Neville

Russia was coming good and they loved the west after perestoika but putin has reversed all that with deciet, lies and brute force. Now the lies are used to reinforce his evil intent in Ukraine and more. I live in hope that he will be stopped from within... he must live in fear of that.

Like the rest of Europe, we\'re still buy gas from Putin, and probably will afterwards. Sanctions aren\'t working against Putin, cos he\'s loaded, so it\'s now left to the inner lobby to bump him off.

Even When it’s All Over It’s Not Necessarily Over
L. B. Mek said:

\'Yes, that my love, was when you tasted of lychees,
of cotton and cardamom seeds ..
Indeed it was there and then, I breathed deeply, the air
you exhaled ..
And I later grew strong on the sound and the taste
of a woman much loved ..
And I swear to this day that woman was you ..
And while we are at it
do you mind very much if I ask whether you recall
the day when
I painted the walls of our little room both magnolia
and lavender blue ..
When the air all around us was still, but yet filled
with electric\'
(Brilliant!)

What Might Once Have Been
L. B. Mek said:

to doubt, so as to yearn - for
just a spec of reassuring presence
a darting reflection, dot of light
upon life\'s bleak cave, walls..
(I relate and by doing so
feel a little bit more hollow, but
in identifying and feeling that hollowness
I empower myself, to fill it up
with something more tangible..
that\'s what potential you imbue
with such poetic sincerity)
therapy
in teaching us to fish
ourselves
free of the disquiet seas of circumstance
and mirage, interpretations
of those warped, blind faith
based, portrayals
of external dependency, hope
we inherited...
(I for one, thank you
dear Poet, Supreme!!!)

This read of intimate happenings is filled with poignant remembrance of days and nights that were love personified and so touchingly honest it brought tears to my eyes - - yes agreed that nothing is static but what better than recalling romantic air filled with electric - -- such an engaging title too. -- I just love it all ............ x

For as long as a memory lasts or better still, once written down (as above) for as long as they can be read to me, a love affair will last. For a pairing may be lost to us but the love which created that pairing becomes a part of us.

An unusually long piece from you today Neville and an enthralling read. The capture of each moment, each happening, that are parts of a true love story give such authenticity to poetry - even if they were fashioned from fiction, but that remains your secret here.
