Can\'t believe where my life is going
LIGHT WARRIOR said:

Man....So many of us can relate to your dismay here...I also dropped out of high school because I wanted to grow up and mae money and be on my own terribly...I regretted it way down the road. Back in those days , you could get a job at entry level and work your way all the way up....Mid Life I took a few years off after a couple of traumatic events that too place and when I went back into the workforce, I was absolutely stunned at how hard it was to find a decent job....Currently, I have been job hunting now for 3 months...But, I went back to school online and got my Associate\'s degree...turns out they want a Bachelors but my point is that its never too late to turn your entire life around. Nobody can do it but YOU! Take care

and now I feel the need for you to expand this into another piece which has more insight towards the under current pattern of your life. that is your decision however and only you can decide what to reveal. lives we read about in poetry capture almost every feeling of emotion there is, yet, described in such ways that you wouldn\'t think impossible. new ideas are always welcome in poetry and that\'s the beauty of it I find. devote what you think is right for your character and your personality and let it shine through your work. then hopefully you will even see for yourself the insight of your own mind and that\'s a very beautiful thing my friend.

Dan, wonderful writing, straight from the heart or even the gut. It is uncanny how your poem here and my \"just around the corner\" say kind of the same thing in different words.
And you are so right that it is the people around you who care who will help you up that mountain called life.

you take it in and let it out like a volcanic eruption with your words on fire my friend.a great percentage of the population are far too ignorant to understand what you have written here. it holds the truth and you write it well. having faith in your fellow man is truly a beautiful thing, just like you.

Having had a couple of scares with my wifes health (one of which was truly touch and go - 20% chance of pulling through) this poem meant so much to me - not ashamed to say my eyes watered as I read it.

I share your thought about having that feeling people just tell half truth. But I accept it in compassion of me and others. We are confused 🤷‍♀️ about things. Understanding only comes very slowly and progress takes baby steps. All the best. Nice writing.

Interesting to me how poetry is spawned so often by suffering, and poets are created so often by abuse and a touch of madness. All go through the trials and tribulations of life, but at least poets have an outlet for what they have experienced. So in that respect, we are lucky. Thank you for sharing this information with us, Dan, and I wish you the best with your struggles.

I can relate. My daughter hated me when she hit fourteen ... for trying to be a good, protective father, as were you. Fortunately we both got past that and are very close now. Hang in there, Dan. Good write!

sounds about right Poetic Dan, and if you are trying to create a world then make sure you do it with an unorthodox type of style which no one has ever heard of or seen before. create with the poetry available and make you words attractive, beautiful and eye catching. good luck my friend.

Hi Dan! I just picked this poem to read of yours because the title caught my attention! I love the message of your poem. I think my favorite line was, \"I should be free to settle and move as I please.\" I love how you incorporated empathy into it with feeling too much, overloaded with rules and information. I can definitely relate to that since, I am an extremely sensitive person!!!😬😬😬 Anyways, I loved your poem and keep writing! -A

Dan, great poem, love the \"Rules upon rules\" part.
Here is something that proves your point in a way people can understand:
USA Federal Tax Code in 2016:
Total 74,608 pages long
187 times longer than it was a century ago
It was 400 pages in 1913
I rest my case!
