This is splendid Neville. I felt as if it were me reliving these \"times of prime.\" It seemed like you were so ready to take the next step, but unfortunately the one you\'re addressing doesn\'t seem to feel the same. Wonderful anyways.

Oh my, If I had listened to words of certain people I surely would not have such a colourful past to look back upon with a smile.
So it should be, so it should continue. Though I think most folk are more liberally minded today than when i was a young corruptable thing.

Ah, images of butterflies on the wing on that one day they live for.... all that growing from a bug then to pupate and break free into flight all for one good shag.... well the human version has a lot more going for it... you can even stop by the pub and reflect as you eye up the barmaid. Mindfully contemplating your next conquest in the traditional crimson blooded male tradition.

L. B. Mek said:

reading your subtle words
I can\'t help favourably
comparing them
to Bukowski\'s \'Layover\'
the nuanced majesty, in your poem
is in so much
you purposely, keep unsaid
and thus
allow your readers memories
to bespoke, fill-in
the missing lines
as they
have experienced life..
(such Artistic, restraint
just can\'t be learned
\'in my humble opinion\'
how I treasure you deft touch
dear Poet supreme, thank you!)
from \'Layover\':
\'That moment- to this. . .
may be years in the way they measure,
but it\'s only one sentence back in my mind-
there are so many days
when living stops and pulls up and sits
and waits like a train on the rails.
I pass the hotel at 8
and at 5; there are cats in the alleys
and bottles and bums,
and I look up at the window and think,
I no longer know where you are,
and I walk on and wonder where
the living goes
when it stops.\'

That is a lane that some only unwittingly walk into, and others boldly rush towards. In my day all the rage/rave/whatever was the one night stand. Even that wasn\'t the best a person could achieve. Tomorrow is surely another day. Chin up, mate.

Slaves of Eros
MendedFences27 said:

Eros is a lousy archer. I was wounded several times with his inaccurate arrows before he finally found my heart.
However, your poem is spot on. Maybe someday you\'ll be centered at Piccadilly with pen in hand. As to walking the tightrope, all I can say is that the older you become, the more slack it becomes. Great write. - Phil A.

(our fallibility fast becoming
the only, remaining tendrils

the tightrope\'..

Remember Me She Said
L. B. Mek said:

a central, beautiful metaphor

that alluring pace and poise
in your choice, wording
and drip-down, distilled wisdom
effect
in our reading of your poem, by design..

For Ever Aint Never That Far Away
L. B. Mek said:

a thread of fate, separating
between, those
being born in a war zone
and those
being born in peaceful, moments..
Personally, I think the latter
is the crueller, fate
as we get to glimpse, a perhaps
of peace
that can never be sustained..
so from the beginning
of humanity\'s, fantastic Tales
and Cain and Abel\'s
inability to cohabitate, war
has ever
and I fear, will ever
exist, to remind us:
\'that here, now and forever
are not far away,\'
So we too, go-on
celebrating those heroes
who gifted us, a chance
and doing our Best
then simply let, Fate
judge the rest...
(just a such a poignant read
when you think
that so many, are living this reality
in the now, we lucky few
take for granted...)
Brilliant!
dear Poet, supreme
thank you!
