BEAUTIFUL FAY ~ Memories of the Old Fashioned Sunday ! Alas the peace and tranquility and the traditional Church Service and Sunday Lunch etc have been replaced by Shopping trips ~ dining at the Harvester and the user friendly radio replaced by the \"must be watched & listened to\" TV ! When I became a teen (1996) most of what you describe had disappeared ~ no time for meditation ~ Sunday is no longer a \"Day of Rest\". Thanks for sharing ~ yours BRIAN.

Beautiful words.

Thanks FAY ~ The structure of feathers and their role in flight ~ thermal protection and waterproofing etc is a very academic but very rewarding field of study ! Birds could fly long before Man but we can learn much about Astronautics by studying Birds ! Even a single Feather is a miracle and I always collect them when I find them. Delicate photo and an elegant Poem. Because there are Birds ~ there must be a Creator ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN.

I love feathers!! In Amy Tan\'s Joy Luck Club the best quote (to me) is \"This feather comes from afar and brings with it all my good intentions\".... they are magical little messengers...... when I find them on the floor I think someone I love who died is speaking to me........

FIRST BALLAD.
MendedFences27 said:

I will join the chorus and say that this is a well crafted piece. The link from wood to music is apropos. Think of the guitar, violin, cello, or bass; and then, there are the woodwinds, which at one time were wooden instruments. Certainly the conceptual thought of both creators of music and. say. a piece of furniture is on a par. A great first ballad. It held my interest from the get-go, and reminded me of youthful days working in a carpenters shop. Wow! A storyteller is born. Loved it. - Phil A.

Thanks FAY ~ A GOOD POEM should tell a GOOD STORY ~ and yours is an EXCELLENT POEM ! There is always a melody being played out in busy Carpenter\'s Shop and I have often heard it and even a Carpenter playing BACH on a Musical Saw. You have captured the nuance perfectly in this nostalgic Poem \'n Pic ~ Thanks for sharing ~ Your MPS Friend ~ BRIAN

A fine write, my dear Fay!
You chose a great pic to accentuate your fine write! It reminds me of my maternal grandfather’s workshop! Loved to watch him create his wooden pieces! I was very young at the time, but I can still remember the feeling! Everything in his house was made by him!

brilliant fay! :-) i especially love these lines

Seized with a madness,
sea spitting pebbles.
Sand and weed shaken
like rats in the air.
Tumbling excitement
breakers rise restless.
Desperately try flinging
drops from their hair.

i love your use of words! a bit similar to another one of yours.. very good.. i enjoyed
