What a satisfying and positive outcome here Neville. Corporal B was a right mean bar steward. You though, deserved all the cheers and salutes you got from your mates. Did you ever see the 1965 version of The Hill? When I read your poem, my
mind drifted to that film, it also drifted to events earlier this week, well covered in the media. I smiled at your account of his car being wired up. Naughty, but very nicely done.

A great story in poem format Neville. As a child from 6 to 12 was bullied by a neighbor. Until finally fought him in front of a school crowd and lost. But following this he came to me and asked to be my friend, He came to me for help with homework through high school. The standing up not the winning seems to be the issue in this poem as well. Although not at all the same the standing up is the key to how one feels about themselves and that is to me the key. When you feel good about yourself others will follow. A poem of raw openness

There are bullies in every walk of society but give them a uniform and it takes it to a different level, and this the worst kind of bullying, a captive audiance no escape, twenty four/seven, he probably got off likely with just the car stunt, enjoyed the read

Aww, how heartbreaking! Time has a subtle way of thieving so very much, as if the wealth not measured by gold is much easier to steal, I guess. Gorgeous and beautifully rendered with exquisite imagery and a painfully haunting poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Love that image. His index finger tracing her name through a film of thin ice on window glass. There are contrasts here between cold and heat, which work so well. Plenty of symbolism and spring is a time for new beginnings and growth. A perfectly lovely poem Neville.

Love this and the formatting...brilliant. The opening is the title. Then the poem leads back to the opening. Love it! An easy fave for me, my friend. Well done! 🌹👏

Once again Neville you invoke your mastery of symbolism and metaphor to enchant a poem. This one even feels oriental before one reaches the line. You have taken past and present, warm and cold, the foggy aspect of what is normally clear glass, ice and spring and tied them into a relationship with implied sensuality. A lovely magic trick conjuring up many a fanciful vision. Lovely

So very beautifully rendered Neville, all the way down until those final two lines summoned the war drums. Purchased book number twelve recently, pleased to support your chosen charities. I have the full set now.

Layers this poem has…and the more one peels away, the more one gets the sense that what was once a source of hope and love has be one a source of strain. Relationships…in them, aren’t we all. Wonderful poem my friend!

Lemme guess, those shells were as calcified as the reference to conch suggested, right?! But he HAD to tell her because nothing was too good for whom he adored. Ah, but I\'m well-nigh overcome until I can hardly breathe. Oh you and your skill! Beautifully rendered with excellent imagery and a captivating poignancy. Thank you for sharing.

Sometimes whispers are louded than shouts and vica versa, but that depend of who the war drums for, yourself or someone else, very interesting, relatable and enjoyable read

The subtlety in this piece nearly slipped past me. If he needs to shout and argue then he is not being heard and is that a cue war drums? Is the war with a competitor, her or himself? Often a whisper is heard more easily than a shout and peace talks might be in order. Another lovely subtle piece with so much packed within it. Like all good art it changes with ones mood.

Hmm, intrigue is verily a siren herein, complete with shades, a deep, dark trenchcoat, and I fear nothing else after excepting those long, slender legs elongated further by spike heels. La dee!
